The Polymusic Project

Hi! This page is dedicated to a new theory concept I'm developing called "Polymusic". Polyharmony is the interaction of two or more simultaneous harmonies each with their own "fundamental" or half-tonic. Polyharmonic music is primarily made up of "bitonal hexads" (two triads played as one chord) Polyrhythm is the interaction of two or more simultaneous rhythms. Together, they form polymusic which is the interaction of separate harmonies hand rhythms being played simultaneously. I'm not taking credit for this as I'm sure there have been or are others out there who have a similar idea. Still, I do claim that I came up with the idea without seeing anyone else do it first. I didn't copy anybody. This project is dedicated to the study, innovation, composition and theory of polymusic freely available to anyone interested.  If you're interested in joining the project, please leave a comment. Keep in mind that the ultimate goal of this project is MUSIC, not just theory. I don't want to be one of those people who talk about their supposed theory but have no real music to back it up. However, I also would like to have written resources for others interested in the project.

We want to advance music, and that's what this project is for. To study the creation of simultaneous seemingly unconnected musical ideas into complicated textures that can only be achieved through polymusic!

The official site for the Polymusic project will be online later, but for now, theory lab will be the home of Polymusic.
